Responsibilities within your new role
In this role as Sous Chef, your primary responsibilities include crafting delectable and aesthetically pleasing dishes that meet the highest standards in taste and presentation. You'll play a vital role in menu planning, actively contribute to inventory management, and oversee the efficient handling of supplies with a focus on proper stock rotation. Daily, you'll brief and train staff in alignment with in-house procedures, showcasing leadership skills while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary. Your role extends beyond the kitchen as you lead a team towards culinary excellence.
Your personality, experience and qualifications
To thrive in this role, essential skills and experience include a mandatory background in fine dining, with a preference for prior engagement in a 5-star setting. A comprehensive grasp of health and safety, coupled with proficiency in COSHH regulations, is crucial. The ideal candidate should hold qualifications at a minimum of NVQ level 3 or its equivalent in catering or professional cookery, complemented by intermediate food hygiene certification.
Due to the location of this role, a driving licence and access to your own transport is recommended.
