HR administrator jobs execute human resources support activities that are fairly complicated in nature. HR administrator jobs provide assistance in the areas of employment, affirmative action, salary and benefits administration, employee events, or employee communications. HR administrator jobs are usually responsible for recording data, furnishing reports and maintaining personnel files.

HR administrator jobs specific duties may include taking part in the recruitment process responding to advertisement responses, sending out application packs, sifting applications, sending out relevant correspondence to applicants, organising assessment days, being part of interview panels and reference-checking.

HR assistants may also be responsible for maintaining employee records such as ensuring contact and salary details are correct, monitoring attendance, Time in Lieu systems, sick leave, back to work interviews, organising inductions and training events and scheduling staff appraisals. HR assistants are frequently the first port of call for HR enquiries within their organisation and liaise frequently with HR Officers or Managers to ensure company policies and paperwork comply with current employment law compliance. 

In larger human resources departments, HR administrator jobs may focus on one particular area, for example assisting with the recruitment process or assisting with payroll or benefits. In smaller companies, HR administrator jobs are more likely to undertake a wider range of responsibilities.  HR administrator jobs are often an entry-level position when embarking upon a career in human resources.
