Hotel Sales Managers determine strategies to maximize all streams of revenue that can be attracted to the hotel to generate budgeted sales of accommodation, conferences, banqueting and other hotel facilities. Hotel Sales Managers will be very proactive and will continually be visiting potential clients and marketing the hotel and all its facilities. 

In larger hotel groups, key accounts with major national and international companies must be maintained and the Sales Manager will often need to promote the brand.

Hotel Sales Manager duties:

Hotel Sales Managers areas of business are wide and varied, encompassing the selling and marketing of weddings, conferences, meetings, Christmas events, and, of course, room sales. Ongoing liaison with the General Managers of the hotels within their area and all other Sales Managers within the company and weekly tracking of sales team metrics and reporting data to leadership to facilitate change and oversee monthly meetings.

Hospitality sales managers now have to think of business development in a digital age and embrace the new ways in which the guests of tomorrow engage and wish to consume information. This applies to the hospitality sector where sales managers need to meet target audiences on newer social media platforms and tailor the offering. This evolving skillset commands on average, a salary of £27,500 in the Scottish hospitality market.
