A typical working week for a bricklayer is around 39 hours, Monday to Friday, although overtime, evening, and weekend work is common, especially for those who are self-employed.

How to Become a Bricklayer

To secure a Bricklayer job, you’ll need a blend of hands-on skills, practical experience, and an understanding of construction techniques.

Education and Training

There are several routes into the profession, including: completing a Bricklaying Apprenticeship with a construction company, studying for an NVQ or Diploma in Bricklaying (Levels 1–3) through a college or training provide or gaining on-site experience through labouring or trainee roles.
