At Stafffinders, we are passionate about supporting the next generation of professionals by providing valuable insight into the world of recruitment and business operations. This week, we welcomed a 5th-year school student, Cameron Barnett, for a four-day work experience placement, offering him the opportunity to explore several key areas of our business and gain hands-on exposure to a working environment.
During the placement, Cameron spent time shadowing our recruitment consultants, gaining first-hand experience of the recruitment journey from both the candidate and client perspective. They observed how our consultants screen candidates, assess skills and experience, and match individuals with suitable temporary employment opportunities.

This provided valuable insight into the importance of understanding both client requirements and candidate aspirations when making successful placements. He also learned about the fast-paced nature of temporary recruitment and the role consultants play in ensuring businesses have access to reliable talent when they need it most.
Cameron also spent time with our marketing team, where he was introduced to the creative side of recruitment. He assisted with designing digital content and gained experience using video editing tools to create engaging marketing materials.
This gave him an understanding of how recruitment businesses use branding, social media, and digital marketing to attract candidates, promote opportunities, and build strong relationships with clients and job seekers alike. To show how well he had gotten to know the consultants, he even created a football-style scouting sheet profiling each member of the team.
Prior to his placement, Cameron expressed a keen interest in pursuing a career in Accountancy and Finance, so he spent a significant amount of time working alongside our Accounts team, gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day responsibilities. Here, he learned about the crucial financial processes that support recruitment operations. He was introduced to payroll procedures for temporary workers, pensions, invoice processes, and billing systems.
Throughout the four-day placement, he developed a broader understanding of how different departments work together to deliver a successful recruitment service.
Work experience placements provide students with an invaluable opportunity to explore potential career paths, develop workplace skills, and build confidence in a professional environment. We were delighted to support Cameron’s learning journey and hope the experience has provided useful insight into the exciting and diverse opportunities available within recruitment and business services.
We would like to thank Cameron for his enthusiasm and professionalism throughout his time with us and wish them every success in their future studies and career aspirations.
