Responsibilities in your new role as Head of Operations
As our Head of Operations, you will be the driving force behind commitment to excellence, overseeing the entire operational lifecycle from recruitment to high-quality educational delivery. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading tutor recruitment, ensuring capacity meets demand across regions and subjects
- Overseeing educational quality, tutor training, and delivery standards
- Maintaining the highest levels of compliance, safeguarding, and regulatory standards
- Manageing operational performance, including placements, capacity planning, and service delivery
- Leading and develop recruitment and educational teams to achieve key business objectives
- Monitoring and improve delivery quality, utilisation, and operational efficiency
- Working closely with senior leadership to remove operational barriers and support business growth
- Reporting on operational performance, capacity, and continuous improvement initiatives
Your personality, experience and qualifications
We are seeking an individual with proven senior operations leadership experience from the SEND, alternative provision, education, social care, or a comparable highly regulated service sector. You will bring:
- Strong commercial mindset - understands the link between operational efficiency and revenue, and is comfortable being measured on both
- DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) experience or equivalent
- Strong education-leadership credibility - QTS, SENCO qualification, or a track record running an education-quality function
- Has managed multiple direct reports across multiple sub-functions
- Data-fluent and KPI-driven - comfortable running a scorecard, not just protecting quality
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambitious environment building structure where there isn’t yet any
Desirable
- Experience with English local authority frameworks (EOTAS, AP, Section 19, EHCP-named)
- Ofsted inspection experience
- Previous role in a scaling SEND / AP provider
- Experience of designing and embedding a quality framework from scratch
- Experience of removing operational bottlenecks in a fast-growing services business
