Responsibilities in your new role as Commis Chef
As a Commis Chef, you’ll support the kitchen team with daily tasks and help create high-quality dishes. Your duties will include:
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, meat, and fish
- Assist with cooking and plating dishes to company standards
- Follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workstations
- Receive, organise, and rotate stock using FIFO procedures
- Help monitor stock levels and minimise food waste
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and allergen procedures
Your personality, experience and qualifications
You will have a genuine enthusiasm for cooking and a strong desire to learn and develop within a professional high-end kitchen. You will bring:
- Previous experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel or luxury hospitality environment
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)
- High standards of food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP procedures
- A positive, reliable, and proactive approach to work
