Responsibilities in your new role as Commis Chef

As a Commis Chef, you'll support the kitchen team with daily tasks and help create high-quality dishes. Your duties will include preparing ingredients, washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, meat, and fish, so everything is ready for service. You'll assist with cooking and plating dishes, following recipes and standards carefully.


Keeping your workspace clean is essential, and you'll help maintain stations, equipment, and storage areas. You'll also help with stock management, including receiving deliveries, organising stock, rotating items (FIFO), and reducing waste. Above all, you'll follow strict food safety, hygiene, and allergen guidelines at all times.


Your personality, experience and qualifications

We are looking for an individual with genuine enthusiasm for cooking and a strong desire to learn and develop within a professional high-end kitchen. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.


You should possess a solid understanding of food hygiene practices, ideally holding a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. Experience gained within a 4 or 5-star hospitality background will be highly beneficial, demonstrating your familiarity with high standards of service and presentation. A good command of English is required to ensure effective communication within the team and understanding of instructions.
