Responsibilities in your new role as a Head Chef

In your new role, you will lead and manage event catering operations across multiple venues, ensuring an excellent execution and client satisfaction. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the prep kitchen and supervise a small, skilled team of two chefs and one kitchen porter, focusing on training, rotas, and performance. You will plan, cost, and execute menus that align with both creative and commercial goals, all while meeting GP targets. Engaging directly with clients, you will conduct menu tastings and ensure seamless event delivery, contributing to a truly memorable customer experience.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the Senior Head Chef and Events Manager to enhance our events offerings, support business growth, and maintain a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating by adhering to rigorous HACCP, allergen, and safety standards. Furthermore, you will oversee stock management, supplier relations, and kitchen budgeting with accuracy and accountability while contributing innovative ideas for seasonal menus and event dishes, all within a safe, professional, and audit-ready kitchen environment.
 

Your personality, experience and qualifications

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years' experience in a Head Chef position, ideally with event, banqueting, or high-volume prep experience. You should possess proven leadership and communication skills, being confident in managing a small team and liaising directly with clients. A strong grasp of menu development is essential, along with the ability to ensure consistency and manage costs effectively to meet required GP targets.

You will also need to be skilled at training junior members of the team to support their growth and development. A full UK driving licence and eligibility for company vehicle insurance (currently 25+) is a must. Additionally, you should have excellent knowledge of HACCP, allergens, and food hygiene legislation (including Natasha’s Law) and be calm, organised, and dependable under pressure, especially during peak event periods.

Most importantly, you must have a passion for food, consistency, and professional development.

Full driving license and access to own vehicle is a must!
