Duties of a PVG Cook or Chef As a PVG Cook, your key responsibility will be to efficiently prepare a variety of meals to accommodate for dietary requirements provided, as well as preparing any snacks or beverages throughout the day to a high standard. You will also maintain and replenish all food/kitchen stock whilst cooperating with the rest of the team. 

Applicants for these PVG Chef roles will ideally have had previous experience within a similar role and will have worked within a friendly and supportive environment. You will be comfortable working within a fast-paced kitchen and have the drive and determination to learn on the job, whilst always delivering exceptional customer service. You will be confident in bringing your creativity and new ideas to the table, being a key team player and communicating well with all members of the facility. Aside from PVG Chef roles, we also recruit PVG Catering Assistants, PVG Kitchen Assistants and PVG Cleaners/Domestic Assistants. 

What is a PVG and how do I apply for one? 

The PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme, administered by Disclosure Scotland, aims to safeguard children and protected adults by preventing individuals with a history of inappropriate behaviour from working with these vulnerable groups. This process involves gathering details of previous criminal records and any other relevant information that may affect an applicant's chances of securing a valid PVG. You can apply for a PVG by visiting the mygov website, where you can read more about the scheme and complete your application online. To join the PVG scheme, you will be required to pay a one-off cost of £59. Although, in some cases, employers may pay this for you, so it is best to check with your consultant or employer before applying.
