We're saying goodbye to our marketing interns!

Stafffinders’ involvement in the Invest in Renfrewshire Graduate for Internships Scheme.

Two interns joined us in October 2017 on a 6 month internship through the Invest in Renfrewshire initiative for graduate internships.  The time has flown in and with both now leaving us, let's find out what the interns got up to and learn about the skills developed whilst working at Stafffinders.

Our interns

Lana Dos Santos

During my 6 months here, my focus has been on Stafffinder’s sister company Kingpin International. My main role has seen me research and create content for the website, as well as developing and running the company’s social media profiles with an end goal of increasing the engagement and website traffic.

What have you learned?

I have developed my marketing skills substantially since starting my internship in October. I have learnt a lot about SEO and helped optimise the Stafffinders and Kingpin websites, seeing positive results. I have come to appreciate the likes of Hootsuite and Google Analytics, and the different aid they can provide to digital marketing. Through running successful marketing campaigns, I have learnt the importance of presenting results and learning from past difficulties to make positive outcomes in the future. As I was based in the Paisley office, I have also learnt a great deal about the recruitment industry as a whole.

What did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed developing my skills by working within the marketing department. I particularly enjoyed being creative with the Stafffinders Easter competition campaign and seeing the positive results it brought the company’s social media.

Funny moment in the office

There have been a few… There’s been a few times where the early mornings have gotten to me and I have come into the office with pieces of clothes on inside out. As I’m quite superstitious and believe that correcting it will bring bad luck, I would just stay with it inside out for the rest of the day.

Lisa Macfarlane

Over the past six months I have been marketing intern for Stafffinders. During this time my main responsibilities have included updating our social media accounts, creating blog articles for our website and organising seasonal client gift campaigns.

What have you learned?

Since the beginning of my internship I have learned a huge amount about marketing in general. As I didn’t study marketing at university, my knowledge of the subject was quite basic so every day has been a new lesson for me. I now know how to effectively maintain a professional social media presence, optimise a company’s website using SEO, and create marketing campaigns to strengthen the relationship with clients and candidates.

What did you enjoy the most?

I’ve enjoyed getting to know new things about marketing, as well as getting used to office life in general, as before this I had never worked in an office before. The endless cups of tea and birthday cake haven’t gone amiss either!

Funny moment in the office

There have been a lot, although now I’m trying to write them out they seem more like had to be there moments…
