25 Years of helping the world to see...
2010 marked the year of Vision Aid Overseas' 25th Anniversary and as a culmination of the celebrations, Vision Aid Overseas held a grand Gala Ball at London's Royal Exchange in May.
The evening was in recognition of the work of the Charity since 1985, and partially the achievements of its volunteers in helping over 1 million people through the provision of eye examinations and glasses.
Vision Aid Overseas Chief Executive, Natalie Briggs said; ‘The purpose of the event was to raise Vision Aid Overseas' profile, raise funds and to celebrate the contribution of volunteers and the optical profession.
‘In the last 25 years, Vision Aid Overseas has supported over 1 million patients, working with in-country partners to give opportunities for patients to gain access to glasses. The impact on national, regional and local levels of health provision has been important, but it is the stories of the individuals we have helped, and how volunteer professionals have improved their quality of life which remains the driving force for Vision Aid Overseas.'
