Meet the Recruiter - Indira Borras

Why did you decide to enter the recruitment industry?

After arriving in Edinburgh, I got my first job through a recruitment agency. Before that, I didn’t even know they existed! It was a great experience that got me through being lost in a new country to starting a kick-ass career in the UK.

After some years, I decided to join the recruitment industry to provide this sense of purpose to others.

How would you describe your role at Stafffinders?

It is a role with great autonomy and high stakes. Taking care of IT recruitment as well as the relationship with our clients can be a lot to juggle, but the company has an amazing support structure and I know that I can count on everyone else when push comes to shove.

What is the most rewarding part of being in recruitment?

Every single time I close the gap between a fantastic candidate and their dream job or help a client fill that very specific hole in their team I feel fulfilled. For me, the research and the relationship with the candidates is the most fun and interesting part of the recruitment. I get to meet and know so many new people every single day!

How do you spend your free time outside of work?

I am a bit geeky myself and love spending long weekends playing D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) or GURPS with my friends. Or spending endless afternoons playing MTG (Magic the Gathering) raising the stakes so that the loser pays for the night out. Videogames, board games, webtoons, comics, mangas, k-dramas, documentaries, and video editing among others.

Besides that, I love to spend time writing short stories, painting Warhammer miniatures for our D&D campaigns, and reading – huge fan of Brandon Sanderson.

Art is a great way for me to cool down and relax.

After a busy day, a good session in the gym also does the trick.

What would you say your favourite motto is?

“Plus Ultra” a Latin phrase that means “Further Beyond”. It has worked as a great motto to get to where I am today while keeping my sights on greater goals.

Who inspires you?

Believe it or not, watching Bob Ross painting and his thoughts on life never fail to inspire me to take a more positive and calm approach to life. Besides him, my fiancée has always been a strong reference we go through life together and can tackle anything as long as we look up to each other.
