Your rate of pay and hours of work
As the new Retail Assistant Manager, you will earn £9.90 per hour and be required to work a minimum of 22.5 hours per week, with some occasional overtime to meet the needs of the business. Our clients' stores are open 9am to 5:30pm and therefore your working hours will be between these times.
This is initially a temporary position; however, it has the scope to become permanent for the right person.
Responsibilities within your new role
Working closely with the Shop Manager, your new role as Assistant Retail Manager will include providing exceptional customer service to shop visitors to maximise the donations and profitability of the shop. You will act as an ambassador for the charity through promoting and effectively communicating messages and key activities that the charity is involved in.
You’ll work with the Volunteers on shifts to ensure the shop is presented to a high standard at all times, therefore having an interest in visual merchandising would be beneficial. As the Assistant Retail Manager, you will also have a key responsibility for the stock processes and stock rotation system.
Your personality, experience and qualifications
We are ideally looking for a polite and diligent individual who has previous experience within a retail or customer service environment, who is passionate about supporting their local charity and community.
Experience within a charity shop would be advantageous although not essential for this role. Working within a charity environment, you will be flexible and adaptable to deal with the donations you receive, as well as supporting the fantastic team of volunteers within the shop. You’ll have excellent attention detail and a welcoming attitude to greet customers.
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate IT literacy to undertake the opening and closing of the store from time to time.
