Your rate of pay and hours of work

As a Class 1 Driver, you will receive an hourly wage of £14.30, and your payments will be issued on a weekly basis, with holiday pay accrued on top. The position involves a combination of dayshifts and nightshifts. You'll be scheduled for five days out of seven, with dayshifts typically commencing at either 6am or 7am, while nightshifts kick off at 9pm or 10pm. The majority of shifts extend to a duration of 10 hours, with a minimum of 8 hours for each shift.

With locations in Bellshill and Dundee, our client offers an exceptional nationwide collection and delivery service, specialising in chilled and frozen groupage. They maintain a fleet of approximately 115 vehicles for timely and temperature-sensitive goods transportation, serving a variety of businesses across the UK.

 

Responsibilities within your new role

The role of a Class 1 Driver encompasses various responsibilities, such as conducting multi-drop deliveries and handling the collection, delivery, loading and unloading of cargo. An essential requirement is a solid understanding of the geographical layout of the UK mainland. It's also crucial to maintain accurate records of journey times, mileage, and hours worked, ensuring meticulous documentation. Furthermore, strict adherence to all company regulations and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and hygiene, is vital in fulfilling your duties.

 

Your personality, experience and qualifications

To be considered for this position, you should hold a valid Full UK Driving Licence (preferably clean, no more than 6 points). Additionally, a valid CPC Card is required, along with a minimum of 12 months of hands-on experience in operating and driving Class 1 vehicles. It's important to be comfortable using GPS equipment for navigation. Safety is paramount, so you must ensure that you are always in a condition to manoeuvre the truck and adhere to all road and transport regulations. Lastly, the ability to drive safely in varying weather conditions and at any time of the day is essential for this role.
