An Account Managers main duty is to manage and develop their organisations relationships with specific customer and clients. Account managers are required to combine strong sales skills, as well as excellent customer service abilities, to provide the best possible experience for their customers.
What are the daily duties of an Account Manager?
The requirements of an Account manager will consist of the following:
• Plan and manage business portfolio and territories according to an agreed market development strategy
• Manage product and service mix to ensure business offerings are aligned with the demands and expectation of the targeted customer sector.
• Attract new, and develop current, customers through the implementation of marketing and advertising techniques
• Increase overall customer satisfaction and strengthen customer/business relationships
Skills and Personal Qualities
In order to become a successful account manager, candidates must possess exceptional communication skills as they will be dealing with both clients and colleagues and must be able to relay information between both parties. Candidates must also be sociable individuals, who are able to effectively establish strong relationships with a wide variety of personalities. Lastly, account managers must be efficient at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Working Environment and Salary
Account managers are mainly office-based positions, with some time being spent in meetings and some time spent visiting clients. Subsequently, account managers will work standard, 9-5:30pm shifts, with some extra hours required around deadline dates. In terms of salary, an account manager can expect to earn around £25,000, with this figure rising to around £45,000 for senior account managers.
