Trainee Administrator Jobs 

Trainee administrator jobs work on computers to produce neat and accurate text documents. In addition to typing/word processing for reports and letters, they are responsible for a range of other tasks. The tasklist and jobs handled by Trainee Administrators varies depending on the level of responsibility and the type of employer, but are likely to include the office junior being responsible for stationery stocks and office equipment, welcoming visitors and arranging refreshments, answering the telephone and managing post and email, maintaining filing systems, both manual and electronic.

There are no formal entry requirements, although some employers may expect GCSEs/Nationals/S-grades (A-C/1-3) in English and administration. Good keyboard skills are essential and additional computer knowledge, particularly of Word.

Trainee administrator jobs work standard office hours, from Monday to Friday.  Flexitime and shift work is also possible with some employers. Temporary contracts are common and often lead to permanent employment.

Companies generally support personal development of trainee administrator jobs by offering a combination of in-house and external courses, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced members of staff. There is a wide range of vocational qualifications available in this area for office juniors.

There are good opportunities for admin assistants to progress to wider administrative or secretarial jobs. Senior legal positions may also be available after specialised training. In some companies, it might be possible to move into a specialist area, such as conveyancing, court work or legal cashiering.
