Paralegal Jobs

Paralegals thrive on the fast-paced environment of law-related organisations - with attention to detail an essential trait. Paralegal professionals can work across a multitude of legal environments, but usually specialise in one key area.

Due to the sensitive nature of legal documentation, integrity must be at the core of individuals in Paralegal positions. Communication skills should be second to none, as is the ability to liaise with a variety of individuals - including legal professionals, police officers and the public.

Paralegals typically have the following skills:

  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strong research skills with the ability to evaluate information
  • Validating/Investigating key information for lawyers
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills
  • Knowledge/experience in relevant areas of law practice
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Though not necessary for some positions, formal training may be required or provided by employers in order to improve efficiency and knowledge.

A working week for a paralegal usually follows typical office opening hours. However, paralegals working within particular industries - such as criminal law or police services - may be required to work extra hours or be ‘on call.'
