Sous Chef Jobs

Sous chef jobs is the direct assistant of the executive or head chef.  Sous chef jobs will be skilled and experienced enough to run any section in the kitchen and able to take charge of the whole kitchen if the head chef is away.  Often more than one sous chef is required in larger kitchens, with each sous chef covering a certain shift or having his or her own area of responsibility, such as banquet sous chef who will be in charge of all banquets, or the executive sous chef who will be in charge of all other sous chefs.

Sous chef jobs often shares some duties with the head chef, such as menu planning, costing and ordering.   In order to attain sous chef jobs the candidate must, have a good all-round knowledge of the various corners of the kitchen and have some awareness of the financial side of the operation.  Sous chef jobs must be able to take control, delegate where necessary and lead by example.

Like all chefs, sous chef jobs normally work a 40 hour week however shifts and split shifts are common and overtime is often worked.  Sous chef jobs may also be seasonal.  Sous chef jobs can earn between £16,000 and £18,000 per annum with part-time, casual and seasonal jobs being paid on a pro rata basis.
