Head Chef Jobs

A successful head chef must be the captain of their kitchen. All fine details must be looked after to ensure their space is run with the precision of a tight ship. A real passion for food and providing a top-notch customer experience is essential.

A quality head chef will have worked their way up the kitchen ranks throughout their career, and will now be competent in all areas of kitchen management and quality control. Including:

• Ordering and managing stock, ensuring high quality and healthy profit margins
• Overseeing all produce that leaves the kitchen
• Managing staff rotas
• Training kitchen staff to use and look after equipment
• Strong understanding and necessary Health and Safety qualification
• Monitoring stock rotation to guarantee minimal wastage and freshness of food
• Contribute creatively towards new menu ideas
• Inspire and motivate all kitchen staff to exceed company standards.

....and much, much more! A head chef should thrive in fast paced, high-pressure environments while keeping a cool head and delegating effectively to get the job done. Typically, salaries fall within the range of £28,000-£33,000 per annum.

There is no ‘typical working week' for a successful chef at the helm of a busy kitchen. Working late nights and weekends are par for the course - as is overtime during busy periods. Dedication and passion for the job are a must!
