Transport Clerk Jobs

Transport Clerks are responsible for managing the administration in a transport office and will report to the Transport Manager. Transport Clerks are responsible for dealing with the day-to-day transport enquiries and administration.

The main responsibilities of a Clerk in a transport office include dealing with all telephone enquiries from both internal and external sources, complaint handling, data entry, dispatching, order processing, filing and delivery scheduling.  A Transport Clerk also provides support to the transport manager as and when required.

The working hours are typically on a rotating shift pattern working 5 days out of 7 (predominantly Monday to Friday). The role could be office based within the transport department.

A Transport Clerk Job Description

Transport Clerks should have excellent PC skills, be a good communicator, be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.  They will have good administration skills and have a confident telephone manner.  There are no formal qualifications required for the role, but you should have good qualifications in English and maths.

Progression to a Transport Manager is possible, but a CPC National will be required. The CPC International may also be required depending on the individual operation. Salaries can range from around £18,000 - £20,000 a year.
