Quantity Surveyor Jobs

Managing costs from start to finish, a quantity surveyor deals with setting and managing budgets throughout building and civil engineering projects. These positions are also sometimes referred to as a commercial manager or cost consultant. The workplace may be a typical office or a make-shift office on a construction site.

Quantity surveyors are expected to manage a number of tasks throughout the life cycle of a construction project: from finding investors, supervising contractors and forecasting costs. Employers of quantity surveyors can be across both public and private sectors. There is a considerable demand for qualified quantity surveyors and qualifications can be gained via a specialised undergraduate degree, or by a postgraduate degree dedicated to specific education and training.

Newly qualified quantity surveyors can expect a starting salary on around £21,000 with seasoned professionals earning in excess of £100,000.
