I have had very good service from all at the Glasgow Office. They found me a temporary position, which I have now been in for more than a year. As a candidate, you are made to feel that nothing is a bother, which is not the case with some other organisations. They are very prompt at returning your calls and my weekly payment is never late or wrong. I do, however, speak more to Michelle. You are always very pleasant and friendly to deal with, which makes life a lot easier. Thank you Stafffinders for helping me.
Quantity Surveyor Jobs
Managing costs from start to finish, a quantity surveyor deals with setting and managing budgets throughout building and civil engineering projects. These positions are also sometimes referred to as a commercial manager or cost consultant. The workplace may be a typical office or a make-shift office on a construction site.
Quantity surveyors are expected to manage a number of tasks throughout the life cycle of a construction project: from finding investors, supervising contractors and forecasting costs. Employers of quantity surveyors can be across both public and private sectors. There is a considerable demand for qualified quantity surveyors and qualifications can be gained via a specialised undergraduate degree, or by a postgraduate degree dedicated to specific education and training.
How much can you earn with a job in quantity surveying
Newly qualified quantity surveyors can expect a starting salary on around £21,000 per annum. Obtaining chartered status increases both your job and salary prospects with salaries at senior level may be between £45,000 and £65,000.
Working hours vary. For on-site contractors, your working hours may be 7.30am to 6.00pm, while in private practice or in a local government department, your hours may fit the more standard 8.30am to 5.30pm. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Full professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS designation) can be a benefit for certain roles and ongoing professional development.
