The candidates we have partnered with are getting heavily involved in all aspects of planning including creating, maintaining, reviewing and administering construction schedules and plans. They liaise with external contractors and suppliers on draft applications. 

The overall purpose of planning is to work with the Senior Planner on various sites on the following:

  • Produce the tender programme
  • Agree and monitor progress against the contract master programme
  • Produce construction target programmes
  • Participate in defining work package breakdown and identifying scope of works to develop logistics strategy and planning
  • Identify and select the appropriate techniques and sequence of events for each project

Construction Planner duties and responsibilities

  • Make recommendations and challenge programme proposals
  • Give advice to teams on improving programme duration
  • Provide advice and support on the development of specific systems of working.
  • Preparing project and activity feedback reports
  • Producing sub-contractor work package programmes

Key tasks

  • Liaising with the Project Team throughout, to monitor progress and highlight deviations from the schedule and making adjustments to project plans as necessary
  • Give advice to teams on improving programme duration
  • Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly progress reports from information gathered from the site teams
  • Helping to develop the company's planning processes and procedures
  • Reporting findings, and recommending solutions to recover delays



  • Extensive experience in planning,
  • CSCS basic card.

General IT:

  • Competent user MS Excel, MS Word, Microsoft Outlook email and calendars.
  • Advanced user of Asta Powerproject
  • Advanced user Probe

Expected salary for planners

The pay rates below are approximate

  • Starting: £28,000 - £30,000
  • With experience: £36,500 - £43,000
  • Senior Planners £60,000 - £65,500
