Forensic Accountants perform an integral role within organisations by carrying out investigations on financial errors or discrepancies with could include fraudulent actions or immorality. As a Forensic Accountant, you will carry out fastidious analysis on financial reports to identify disputes and accurately document the findings whilst providing recommendations on how the financial situation can be recovered.
To secure a role in Forensic Accounting, clients will likely request that you have obtained a degree in accounting or similar however training is usually available where you can complete a professional qualification whilst learning on the job. You will have exceptional problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and be able to think analytically.
Working conditions of a Forensic Accountant
Forensic Accountants are office-based and usually follow the 9 am- 5 pm structure Monday to Friday, however, could be required to work additional hours during busy periods or to meet deadlines.
Although salaries for Forensic Accountants depend on the firm, location and other factors, you would expect a starting salary of around £22,000, with more senior levels receiving up to the £50,000 to £70,000 range.
