External Consultancy Jobs

An External Accounting Consultant is someone who works outside of an organisation, providing professional support and advice to enhance the organisations' financial position. External Consultants use their expertise to analyse current accounting practices, whilst helping clients create and maintain a more efficient process in order to improve client profitability.

Main responsibilities of an External Consultant:

  • Carrying out financial forecasting and auditing
  • Review financial statements to determine the current financial position
  • Analyse client accounting practices to identify issues and improvements
  • Offer professional advice on how to improve clients profitability
  • Create bespoke solutions for a broad database of clients

What do I need to qualify as an External Consultant?

To secure a role in External Consulting within the Accounting sector, you will most likely need to require a relevant degree in either accountancy or finance. Some clients may even look for accounting professionals who have completed a further qualification such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

In order to provide accurate information to a range of clients, External Consultants must obtain a sound understanding of business practices. Strong mathematical skills are essential as well as the ability to think analytically, to provide solutions to the problem. External Consultants should have exceptional communication and writing skills whilst focusing on attention to detail at all times.
