Operations Managers are responsible for the entire operation and will focus on strategic issues while managing day-to-day operations via a team of line managers. Operations Manager jobs will hold full responsibility for the strategic management of an operation, which may include multiple sites nationally or internationally. In addition, Operations Managers are also responsible for the health and safety of the operation, maintaining a programme of subordinate development and ensuring all key performance indicators are achieved.
As an Operations Manager, you should be able to work at both strategic and tactical levels, have good leadership skills and be able to manage, motivate and develop a team. They will be experienced in health and safety issues hold a National Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and have good communication, literacy and numeracy skills. Operations Manager working conditions and salary expectations Operations Managers will normally work office hours Monday to Friday, there may also be a requirement for overtime. Most jobs within this field are office-based and depending on the type of operation, a certain degree of travel may be required.
