A Conference and Events Supervisor is responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing conferences, events, and functions. This includes venue selection, logistics management (catering, accommodations, audiovisuals), budgeting, and scheduling. During events, a Conference and Events Supervisor will manage on-site activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure guest and staff needs are met. Post-event, they gather feedback, assess financials, and prepare reports. They also handle marketing, client relations, and ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.

To become a Conference and Events Supervisor, start by obtaining a degree in hospitality management, event management, or a related field. Gain experience in entry-level roles like event coordinator or assistant planner, and seek internships to build practical skills. Join professional organisations and consider earning certifications like the CMP designation. Build a portfolio of successful events and apply for supervisor positions once you have the necessary experience and skills.
