Working within a GP's surgery, Practice Managers will support the doctor in many aspects of running the practice. This will include helping with accounts, the accurate upkeep of medical records and all relevant paperwork needed as well as a business strategy for the healthcare facility. Part of the role of a Practice Manager job will be to communicate with other healthcare centres and staff, the healthcare authorities and of course patients and other clerical staff within the practice.
Duties of a Practice Manager Practice Managers will often have a varied workload, and although responsibilities may alter from practice to practice, some of the duties may encompass recruiting and training medical clerical staff. You also have to ensure stocks of healthcare and clerical supplies are maintained, as well as dealing with financial issues such as accounts or staff wages. In order to fulfil a Practice Managers diverse job description, you must display exceptional planning skills and the ability to control all aspects of the running of the healthcare centre. An aptitude for numbers is also advantageous as is a keen interest in healthcare and how it is delivered. Several years of managerial experience are often required, coupled with the necessary skills gained from working within a healthcare environment in an administrative or clerical role.
