Test engineer jobs conducts environmental, operational or performance tests on electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, general industrial or experimental products e.g. aircraft, automotive equipment, industrial machinery, controls and systems.
Test engineers design and direct engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test-control apparatus and equipment. Test engineers will co-ordinate engineering activities relating to development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments and equipment.
Duties of a Test Engineer
Test engineer jobs determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations. Test engineer jobs exercise control over operational, functional and performance phases of tests; work with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems e.g. product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.
Test engineer jobs will also analyse and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel. Testing engineer jobs are classified by field of engineering. They may also use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
