Laboratory Technician Jobs

Laboratory technician jobs support scientists in bioscience, physical science, and other scientific disciplines.  This can involve work in research and development, scientific analysis and investigation, or education.

Laboratory technician jobs will work closely with the quality control department testing raw materials, in-process and finished products.

Laboratory analysis can include molecular biology, cell biology, wet chemistry techniques and microbiology techniques.

Laboratory technician jobs ensure equipment is clean, in working order, stock solutions are made up, and cultures or specimens are prepared.  Laboratory technician jobs are responsible for setting up experiments or investigations, recording data, calculating and sometimes presenting data.

In addition, Laboratory technician jobs may be involved in ordering and controlling stock, and collecting samples or specimens in the field.

Generally a HND/HNC in Science is enough as they are generally given continuing on-the-job training, which enables them to keep up to date with new laboratory techniques and IT skills.
