Heating Engineers Jobs

The jobs of heating engineers are to design and install central heating in all types of buildings. They decide on the installation of pipes, boilers, pumps, radiators, control valves and other related equipment. The materials they work with include steel, copper, iron, plastic and stainless steel.

The role of heating engineers in building services should not be confused with that of domestic heating. Heating engineers are experts in large industrial and commercial boilers rather than domestic units found in people's homes.

Heating engineers work on building sites, or on existing buildings which are being renovated and modernised. They may also be involved in planning and implementing routing servicing. Heating engineers work for specialist heating firms. They are employed across the country, wherever large scale construction is carried out.

Ideally, heating engineers should be practical with a creative approach. They should be able to make accurate plans and drawings and be good at maths and physics. A heating engineer's job involves being able to think methodically and to design, plan and manage projects. They must have organisational ability and be able to deal with detailed problems without losing sight of the overall plan. An interest in electronics and climate control is also important for a heating engineer.
