They focus on their ecology, their survival strategies, how they affect us and how we can exploit them
Microbiologists work in a wide variety of settings, although the majority of work is laboratory-based
Task include observing, identifying and monitoring microbes, developing new techniques, products and processes
Responsibility for data handling/analysis procedures will be required
Quality control is an important aspect of the job
Microbiologist are employed in academic research; healthcare and industry, including pharmaceuticals, food, biotechnology and agriculture
Generally a degree in Microbiology/Biology or Biochemistry is preferred and laboratory experience may be required
