Laboratory Technician Jobs
Laboratory technicians support scientists in bioscience, physical science, and other scientific disciplines
This can involve work in research and development, scientific analysis and investigation, or education
Will work closely with the quality control department testing raw materials, in-process and finished products
Laboratory analysis can include molecular biology, cell biology, wet chemistry techniques and microbiology techniques
Laboratory technicians ensure equipment is clean, in working order, stock solutions are made up, and cultures or specimens are prepared
They are responsible for setting up experiments or investigations, recording data, calculating and sometimes presenting data
In addition, they may be involved in ordering and controlling stock, and collecting samples or specimens in the field
Generally a HND/HNC in Science is enough as they are generally given continuing on-the-job training, which enables them to keep up to date with new laboratory techniques and IT skills
