Food Scientist Jobs
Food scientist jobs are in the food and drink industry developing and ensuring the safety of a wide range of products for consumers
Food scientists are involved in the application of biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, biotechnology, radiation science, enzymology and nutrition to keep food fresh, safe and attractive
Will be required to sample and analyze food products and facilities
Analysis will include compositional and food borne pathogen analysis
Drawing up guidelines for improvements in quality and safety and dissemination of the results will be an integral part of the project
All entrants need a good grounding in science
A BTEC/SQA HNC/HND or degree is usually required to become a food scientist
Subjects such as food science, food studies, food technology, or general sciences are particularly useful
