Data Entry Operator
The role of a data entry operator is to provide a comprehensive administration service to their team and department. A data entry operator will contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the office.
A data entry operator will be required to carry out all general administration duties, but the main duties for a data entry operator is to ensure that databases and any other such documents are kept up-to-date. A data entry operator must input information in an accurate manner and within the time constraints set out by their manager.
A data entry operator work will involve the extensive use of spreadsheets and any in-house databases that the company may have. Therefore a data entry operator must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages, in particular Access and Microsoft Excel, and a working knowledge of PC’s are essential for any data entry operator.
A data entry operator may also be required to assist in various general reception and/or administration duties including answering the door or telephone, scheduling appointments, photocopying, faxing, taking dictation, composing and typing all routine correspondence and overseeing the management and distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis.
A data entry operator can work for various organisations such as Call Centers, Banks & Financial Services Organisations to Charity groups. A data entry operator may be responsible for assisting with the design and implementing of a database as well as inputting information.
A data entry operator can work a variety of hours depending on the needs of the individual company, and overtime is often available.
A data entry operator may need to undergo testing at job interviews to check on the accuracy and speed at which they can type.
A data entry operator will have a starting salary of around £10,000 to £16,000 depending on experience.
