Employment Law Specialist
An employment law specialist will advise their employer on all aspects of employment law which may affect any aspect of human resources including advertising, recruitment, anti-discrimination legislation, contracts of employment, redundancies etc.
An employment law specialist can be an experienced HR practitioner or a qualified solicitor. An employment law solicitor is likely to be part of a solicitors firm and give advice to organisations for a fee, or work freelance contracting out their services on an ad hoc basis.
Larger organisations may even have a need to permanently employ an employment law solicitor in-house. Non-solicitor employment law specialists are usually very experienced HR practitioners who, again, could be employed in-house solely in this function, could work on a consultancy basis for a management or HR consultancy firm or be self-employed undertaking ad hoc work or projects as required by their client base.
