Freight Sales Representative
Freight sales representatives sell their company’s services to businesses across the world. Freight sales representatives are responsible for winning new customers, and ensuring existing customers are getting the service they want. Freight sales representatives and managers usually work within a specific geographical area depending on the size of the organisation. Freight sales representatives show customers presentations on their products, discuss prices and advise the customer on after-sales service, guarantees and time schedules.
Freight sales representatives working hours can be long and irregular and most admin work is usually carried out between appointments or at the end of the day and they may be able to work part time.
Freight sales representatives mainly visit clients at their premises which means a lot of driving. When freight sales representatives are not on the road, they work in the company's office or at home.

There are no set entry qualifications for freight sales representatives, most employers ask for a minimum of GCSEs/S grades (A-C/1-3) in English and maths. A degree or HNC/D in a subject related to sales, marketing or business administration can be useful.
A full, clean driving licence is essential for all field based freight sales representatives, although some internal sales position can become available.
New freight sales representatives are usually trained by experienced sales staff. They may also take a range of courses and qualifications in sales. Freight sales representatives progress in their jobs depending on their sales results. Promotion might include taking responsibility for a larger area, or managing a team of sales people.
