Systems Accountant

The role of a Systems Accountant is to ensure the finance department has the most relevant and up-to-date technology, and assess the information required from the finance department against the technology available. If there are certain requirements of the business operated and if it operates within a specialized sector, the Systems Accountant will be responsible for devising a bespoke system specific to that business. In addition to this, a Systems Accountant will monitor user and security administration, system setup and maintenance, issue tracking and resolution. Functionally, The Systems Accountant will meet with key users in the business to determine system and report design and manage the development of minor coordinating business user acceptance testing.  A Systems Accountant will understand user requirements and what information is required, and will select the appropriate hardware and software available. They will also implement procedures and controls for the system.

A Systems Accountant must
• be from an I.T background
• possess relevant experience in the system being implemented
• have previously worked within a finance department
• have a good understanding of the business
• be able to plan ahead for any future requirements or improvements which can be made
