Credit Controller
The job of a credit controller involves a variety of duties including, chasing outstanding debts by letter and phone, reconciling accounts and carrying out credit searches etc. A credit controller will liaise with clients and pass referrals to litigation.
Other elements of the job that a credit controller may be responsible for are opening and credit searching new accounts, setting credit limits on new accounts and freezing accounts etc.
A credit controller will have the ability to influence staff at all levels to obtain collection objectives and meet deadlines. A credit controller will need to be flexible and assist with tasks to ensure a focus on deadlines.
A credit controller will understand the importance of maintaining client relationships whilst continuing to enforce payment terms.
The job of credit controller has a starting salary of around £12k progressing to £25k+ for an experienced credit controller.
Job Requirements
A credit controller will:
• demonstrate strong MS Excel skills
• good knowledge of accounting software
• have excellent organisational and analytic skills
• demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail
• be able to converse with high profile clients as well as account payable departments
• be deadline driven and conscientious
• possess good communication skills (written and verbal)
• have the ability to use initiative and be able to prioritise workload effectively and efficiently
