Assistant Accountant

The role of an Assistant Accountant can be extremely varied and most likely to include some of the following duties and responsibilities. 

Assisting with the preparation and analysis of monthly profit and loss and trial balance; assisting with the preparation of cash flows, preparing accruals and prepayments at month end; complex balance sheet and bank reconciliations and analysing budgets. 

An Assistant Accountant can also expect to run a weekly or monthly payroll; credit control; maintenance of cash book and banking transactions; assisting or overseeing sales and purchase ledgers; computerised BACS runs and assisting the financial controller. 

As an Assistant Accountant you would be expected to help with the preparation of monthly management accounts; assist with systems implementation and new procedures; maintenance of fixed asset register; assisting with month end issues; deputising for the Management Accountant and investigating or resolving any issues and collating and analysing information and preparing reports for management.

Job requirements
An Assistant Accountant should be
• self-motivated and outgoing
• keen to learn new tasks
• continuously challenged
• computer literate in Microsoft Excel

Job qualifications
You should be Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA with at least two years experience gained in a finance department.
